Zen – Sushi & Japanese Cuisine

“Nihao!”

I’m a big fan of Japanese culture and food so it was a question of time, not when, I would try the tappenyaki menu at Zen’s.

Tappenyaki dinner – Soup, Beef fillet, steamed rice and green tea ice-cream LM 14.65.

It’s such a cool and different experience to sit around the table, having the chef standing in the middle, preparing your dinner your way.

The taste is not be that trip to heaven that you at first might have thought. Herby not said it’s bad by any meanings, not at all. I think I was carried away by all the Asian influences, the chef and his kamikaze knifes and the overall stunning feeling of almost being in Japan.

It’s a must try, the tappenyaki dinner is a great and different way to go out and eat together!

Star Café

Yes, this is so good! Finally prays has been listened to!

We DO want to eat Caesar chicken wraps with Provencal herbs, we DO want to eat warm Panini’s with Parma ham, and we DO want the quality food to mirror the venue.

Caesar chicken wrap – LM 2,75

Crispy bacon and chicken filling with cherry tomatoes and lettuce served with either coleslaw or salad.

“…and yes, could I please have some butter to my baked potato?”

There’s two way of how to do this, the faulty was and the Star Café way! Butter nicely mixed with some fresh herbs in a small cup next to the plate.

I appreciate details, small things that boost the overall impression… yes, less can be more!

So, will Star Café keep up or will it slowly fade towards the shadow of old rookies as Café Jubilé?

Step down bar

On my way to the office there’s a typical Maltese “Hole in the wall” bar called Step down bar. This, which I’ve passed by everyday going to the office, never paid much attention to… Until the rumor about their fantastic German food reached me 🙂

German Wiernersnitzel mit kartoffeln unt Cisk – 3 LM

This is just fantastic! Not only the food but also the contrast in the surrounding environments. You know what I mean, it’s like skiing in Sahara or attending that silly costume party in the wrong cloths… or maybe not but the food is great!

Don’t forget to make a booking for the “VIP” table that sometimes will be placed in the middle of the side walk!

There’re snails and then there are snails. These had more the taste of a garden.
